Job Description

Role Overview
The Community Mobilizer for Hygiene and Sanitation is responsible for mobilizing communities for project interventions, facilitating behavior change in sanitation and hygiene, and providing technical support for grant-funded activities. The role involves close collaboration with community leaders, health promoters, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
Liaise with local administration to mobilize the community for project interventions.
Facilitate community meetings related to the projects.
Support sanitation and hygiene coverage through behavior change methodologies such as CLTS (Community-Led Total Sanitation), Nurturing Care Groups (NCG), and WASH Business Centres.
Implement sanitation and hygiene interventions within specific grants.
Conduct capacity building sessions on sanitation and nutrition linkages, hand washing, household water treatment, and hygiene promotion.
Support the establishment and strengthening of referral mechanisms between community health promoters (CHPs) and health workers through monthly meetings.
Support the roll-out of health activities, including maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), and integrate them into WASH activities.
Quality Assurance, Monitoring, and Reporting
Coordinate joint monitoring visits between donors and the national office.
Participate in evaluation planning and support data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Monitor project indicators on a monthly basis and implement improvements.
Use digital tools (e.g., mWater) to collect and share information for quality reporting (Annual, Semi-annual, and Monthly Management Reports).
Utilize financial planning tools and work plans based on programmatic priorities and budgets.
Monitor project implementation for budget adherence, timelines, and target achievement.
Advocacy and Partnerships
Mobilize stakeholders during baselines, evaluations, and other programming activities.
Collaborate with community leaders and partners to plan monitoring activities.
Represent World Vision Kenya (WVK) in relevant forums within the Area Program (AP).
Support fundraising initiatives and proposal development for health and sanitation.
Support community-led monitoring of public service delivery.
Ensure communities are actively involved in WASH and health projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Diploma in Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Community Development, Community Health, or a related field.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in community development work implementing behavior change methodologies (e.g., CLTS, sanitation marketing).
Prior experience working with partners at the community level.
Strong community mobilization and engagement skills.
Ability to speak the local dialect and understand the local context.
