The Role
The Programme Associate (WASH) will assist in the implementation and monitoring of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project activities. This position involves administrative coordination, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful delivery of IOM initiatives. The associate will act as a focal point for diverse organizational units and external parties to facilitate project workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities to ensure objectives are met.
Data Management: Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
Budget Oversight: Monitor the project budget, verify the availability of funds, obtain necessary approvals, and update budget-related information.
Administrative Coordination: Act as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to process and follow up on administrative actions.
Reporting: Support the drafting of status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery, and suggest remedial actions to the supervisor.
Documentation: Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and presentations.
Administrative Support: Respond to complex information requests and inquiries, maintain files/records, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and donors.
Partner Monitoring: Assist in monitoring the work of implementing partners and report non-compliance to the supervisor.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to new or junior staff.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.
OR a High School diploma/KCSE with five years of relevant professional experience.
Liaison Skills: Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
Field Experience: Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and victims of trafficking.
Background: Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
