Job Description
FilmAid is an international development and humanitarian communications organization that harnesses the power and influence of media and the arts to respond to emergencies as well as promote social change through dialogue in order to protect the wellbeing of displaced and vulnerable populations by building stronger, healthier, and more informed communities.
The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for establishing a participatory process in media development. This role ensures that contextually relevant content promotes access to vital information, specifically focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) among teenagers and community members.
Key Responsibilities
Outreach Coordination: Ensure effective coordination and implementation of community outreach activities.
Project Planning: Lead project planning and implementation to ensure objectives are met on schedule.
Digital Communication: Draft and manage messages for distribution via SMS and WhatsApp channels.
Information Access: Improve access to accurate SRH information specifically targeting teenagers.
Child-Friendly Approaches: Design and implement approaches tailored for children and youth.
Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with stakeholders and existing community structures for project synergy.
Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
Data and Reporting: Support assessments, data collection, and regular reporting efforts.
Community Insights: Conduct focus group discussions to gather qualitative community data.
Requirements
Education: Minimum Undergraduate degree in Social Work or a relevant field.
Experience: At least three years of experience leading health programs, preferably within the humanitarian sector.
Youth Focus: Demonstrated experience working on projects involving children and youth.
Safeguarding: Previous training in Child Safeguarding is essential.
Project Management: Solid understanding of the Project Cycle Model.
Communication: Proficiency in report writing, facilitation, and community engagement techniques.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; creative and analytical thinking.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and professional competence in Social Media.
