The Communication and Funding Advisor plays a key role in strengthening the organization’s visibility, reputation, and financial sustainability. This position combines strategic communication with donor engagement and fundraising responsibilities to ensure impactful storytelling, brand consistency, and resource mobilization. This happens in close collaboration with NCA team in Nairobi and the NCA Head Office in Oslo.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Develop and implement NAPA’s communication strategy, including the social media strategy, to visualize NCA’s work, in line with organizational goals and NAPA’s strategies.
- Produce high-quality photo-, video- and design materials showcasing NCA’s and partners’ work.
- Create compelling content for digital platforms, newsletters, press releases, success stories and reports.
- Build up and manage social media accounts and monitor engagement metrics.
- Strengthen and coordinate media relations and respond to inquiries from journalists and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the communication team in Oslo to identify and prepare case stories from partners’ projects.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication materials together with the Head Office.
Funding & Resource Mobilization
- Identify and research potential funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, and private sector partners.
- Lead in drafting high-quality proposals, concept notes, and donor reports.
- Coordinate complex funding proposals involving colleagues in Nairobi and internationally, various partners and other stakeholders.
Other tasks
- Track communication and fundraising performance indicators.
- Coordinate the implementation and update of the NAPA Funding and Engagement Plan.
- The position involves travel to document NCA’s and partners’ activities.
Qualifications & Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, International Relations, or related field.
- Proven experience in communication, fundraising, or donor relations (NGO or development sector preferred).
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills in English (additional languages are an asset).
- Strong understanding of social media, digital marketing, and analytics tools.
- Ability to develop persuasive reports for diverse audiences.
- Proven experience with donor landscapes and proposal development processes.
- Good understanding of African civil society and advocacy. Knowledge of the faith-based sector is an asset.
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
