The Nobel Women’s Initiative is seeking a Communications Consultant based in Nairobi to support media outreach and communication strategy, specifically for the high-level "Rooted & Rising convening." This consultancy role requires extensive experience in media relations within the Kenyan and regional landscape to ensure high-impact coverage of the event.
Role Description
In collaboration with the Communications and Partnership team, the consultant will undertake the following key responsibilities:
- Advise on communications strategy.
- Direct outreach to media and coordinate with local, national, regional, and international media, securing media outputs and coverage based on strategy, list of contacts, and agreed messaging.
- Organize a high-level press conference and media interviews for Nobel laureates and participants of the Rooted & Rising convening, including liaising with the location, managing invitations, etc.
- Provide preparatory briefings on media.
- Deliver a media and outreach impact report after the event.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
- Experience: At least 3 years of broad communications experience.
- Media Expertise: Experience working with the media and proven strong relationships with local, national, and regional journalists/media.
- Language Skills: Fluent in Swahili and English.
- Market Knowledge: Solid understanding of the media landscape in Kenya and the region.
- Work Style: Ability to work autonomously.
- Availability: Must be available to participate in relevant convening activities (such as a press conference) between 1–5 March 2026.
- Location: Must be based in Nairobi.
