Job Description
Apollo helps farmers in emerging markets increase their profits. We use agronomic machine learning, remote sensing, and mobile technology to help farmers access credit, high-quality farm inputs, and customized advice. Our first product is a customized package of farm inputs, farming advice, and credit delivered to farmers in Kenya. In this role, you’ll work alongside our Commercial and Data teams to translate business needs into technical tasks and help the group prioritize requests so that we are always focused on the most important goals.
Responsibilities
Work alongside Commercial and Data teams to translate business needs into technical tasks.
Prioritize requests to ensure focus on the most important business goals.
Identify trends and patterns in data to provide evidence for improving sales, growth, and customer satisfaction.
Create and maintain dashboards used by teams across the business.
Audit data tools to ensure information shared is accurate and reliable.
Train Commercial teams on how to use dashboards, fostering data-backed reporting.
Define ambiguous requests from managers or team members.
Collaborate with Engineering to ensure systems are built to serve business goals.
Work under the guidance of senior analysts and the Technology team to sharpen technical skills.
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
1–2 years of hands-on experience working with data.
Proficiency in writing SQL queries involving joins, aggregations, and CTEs.
Ability to troubleshoot SQL queries with guidance.
Experience using Python for data tasks (e.g., cleaning data with pandas, writing simple scripts, or automating work).
Ability to explain technical concepts simply to non-technical teammates.
Experience with modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) is a plus.
Exposure to dbt (building and maintaining data models) is a bonus.
Understanding of Apollo’s internal systems is highly valued.
