The Claims Officer for Motor Claims is responsible for managing the end-to-end motor insurance claims process. This role involves evaluating claim notifications, coordinating with service providers, and ensuring policyholders receive fair and timely settlements in accordance with company and industry standards. The officer serves as a critical link between the policyholder, service providers (such as repair shops and loss adjusters), and the company's internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Claim Processing: Providing advice on making a claim, processing new notifications, and collecting necessary documentation to move claims forward.
Analysis and Investigation: Analyzing claims made by policyholders, identifying potential fraud, and determining reasons why full payments might not be issued.
Vendor Management: Contacting approved service providers and professionals to arrange repairs for policyholders' property.
Stakeholder Relations: Building relationships with loss adjusters, forensic accountants, solicitors, and other legal professionals. Maintaining positive relationships with brokers.
Service Excellence: Ensuring customers are treated fairly and receive excellent service while handling any claim-associated complaints.
Financial Oversight: Initiating legal recovery of monies paid out, ensuring premiums are settled prior to processing, and keeping costs at a bare minimum.
Compliance: Adhering to legal requirements, industry regulations, and company quality standards.
Collaboration: Liaising with the underwriting department regarding policy terms and endorsements, participating in team meetings, and training new staff on work procedures.
Data Management: Entering claims data into the system and maintaining accurate records for responding to policyholder queries.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Professional Certification: ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or AIIK (Insurance Institute of Kenya) qualification.
Experience: At least 4 years of relevant experience specifically in the insurance sector.
Skills: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, high integrity, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
