About the Role\n\nThe National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit 10 Cadet Officers for the position of Chaplain. This role involves providing spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and moral leadership within the service. Successful candidates will be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms and will receive salaries and allowances as per the existing NYS salary scale. All successful candidates must undergo a mandatory nine-month NYS paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Provide spiritual guidance and moral leadership to youth recruits and staff members.\n- Conduct religious services and liturgical functions within the service environment.\n- Offer pastoral care and counseling to personnel and their families.\n- Advise the command on religious and ethical matters.\n- Participate in NYS training programs and maintain officer-level discipline.\n\n### General Requirements\n- Be a Kenyan citizen.\n- Possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.\n- Be between 18 and 28 years of age.\n- Have no criminal record.\n- Candidates must be medically fit.\n- Possession of a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.\n- Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.\n\n### Academic and Professional Qualifications\n- Be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Islamic Studies from a recognized institution.\n- Minimum KCSE grade of C+ (Plus).\n- Must provide a letter of recommendation from the head of a Church or Mosque that is under the umbrella of any of the following bodies:\n - Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB)\n - National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK)\n - East/West Africa Union of Seventh Day Adventist (EAU/WAU)\n - Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM)\n\n### Terms and Benefits\n- As existing in the NYS salary scale.\n- SHA Scheme of Civil Servants.\n- Permanent & Pensionable.\n\n### How to Apply\nApplicants who meet the above requirements are required to download and complete the from the Public Service Commission website.
