Job Description
As a Business Development Officer at Absa Asset Management Limited (AAML), you will be responsible for driving the growth of the company's investment portfolio and pension products. The role involves identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and collaborating with various bank segments to provide comprehensive financial solutions.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
Business Development & Management
Financial Planning: Develop a knowledge of the client’s entire financial situation and structure a goals-based investment and financial plan.
Growth: Drive pension product uptake by actively identifying and pursuing opportunities, engaging clients on retirement planning needs to grow Assets Under Management (AUM).
Compliance: Ensure investor instructions are processed accurately and in a timely manner as per CMA regulations and internal policies.
Support: Support the branch network to ensure they receive timely service from the AAML team and continuously improve associated processes.
Education: Develop and deliver investment education presentations and sessions to clients and prospects.
Relationship Management: Develop relationships with management teams of institutions and cultivate relationships with key industry players.
Strategy Collaboration: Collaborate with the Investment Management team regarding investment strategy and client portfolio structure.
Market Feedback: Provide market feedback to facilitate the development of new and enhancement of existing products; provide product recommendations.
Training: Participate in training Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs), Bank teams, and the Branch network on AAML products.
New Assets: Drive business results and acquire new assets under management through selling financial products to the existing client base and new client acquisition, focusing on pension solutions.
Engagement: Continuously update and provide feedback on client FAQs and respond to queries and complaints in a timely fashion.
Pipeline Management: Maintain a deal pipeline and continuously update on progress.
Proposals: Develop business proposals for existing and new customers.
Cross-selling: Determine cross-selling opportunities among different ABK bank segments and work closely with Business Banking teams to solution SMEs.
Marketing: Support and execute marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and client engagement, including social media campaigns (e.g., LinkedIn) and digital content development.
Administrative Activities
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports and other management reports.
Produce accurate transaction reports daily and reconcile them to branch Management Information (MI).
Generate and update customer sales logs via the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
Role/Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related business degree.
Professional qualification: CISI level II or an ICIFA member.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the asset management business or in a regulated financial services provider.
2-5 years’ experience in sales with a proven track record.
Experience working in an investment-related field or company is highly beneficial.
