Role Overview
Trócaire is looking for a Business Development & Compliance Manager to increase and broaden the institutional funding base for its programmes in Sudan. Based in Nairobi, the role involves coordinating the proposal development process, ensuring high-quality submissions to institutional donors, and providing oversight for grant management and compliance. The manager will position Trócaire as a potential lead or sub-partner for consortia and build the capacity of staff and partners to handle institutional funding.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Programme Growth (50%)
- Pre-Positioning: Identify relevant upcoming funding opportunities, track grant forecasts, and prepare recommendations based on bid/no-bid criteria. Identify potential partners, participate in design meetings, and coordinate design workshops.
- Proposal Preparation: Lead the coordination and development of proposals from initial development to submission. Manage partner inputs to cost applications and provide technical input to finance teams to ensure alignment with technical designs. Manage recruitment for key personnel in proposals.
- Post-Submission: Manage post-submission processes and lessons learned to contribute to organizational shared learning.
- External Engagement: Identify international and local partners for future opportunities and develop organizational capability statements.
- Strategy Implementation: Lead the review and implementation of the country institutional funding strategy.
Grants Management & Compliance (40%)
- Regulatory Adherence: Keep up to date with donor regulations and communicate changes to staff, ensuring links with global donor strategies at HQ.
- Grant Agreements: Support programme staff to manage grant agreements, including adherence to supply chain, financial management, and anti-fraud policies.
- Systems and Tools: Develop procedures and operational systems to support partners in meeting Trócaire and donor compliance requirements.
- Monitoring: Coordinate with finance staff to ensure compliance with donor rules, financial tracking, reporting, and visibility strategies.
- Reporting: Prepare high-quality donor reports and support grant inception, review, and close-out meetings.
- Data Management: Ensure all proposal and donor compliance information is stored on Salesforce and reconciles with Agresso funding figures.
Representation & Networking (10%)
- Represent the organization at donor and partner meetings and workshops relevant to the Sudan programme.
- Ensure maximum visibility for the organization within the NGO and donor community.
- Contribute to a positive organizational image through the application of the Global Code of Conduct, ethics, and values.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Third-level qualification (Degree) in Development, Humanitarian studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in overseas development and the humanitarian sector.
- Expertise: Experience in institutional funding, proposal development, and grant compliance.
