Absa Bank Limited is seeking a high-performing and motivated Branch Manager for the Sarit branch. The role is to drive and deliver exceptional Retail and Business Banking performance through powerful branch leadership, team development, excellent customer experience, and achievement of operational and controls rigor excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth (60%)
Implement business strategic initiatives and create ownership of the branch performance targets. Align branch execution plans with the Bank's overall strategy (Growth, Transformation, and Returns).
Diligently monitor branch business performance and make necessary execution adjustments.
Manage branch portfolio risks in line with the bank’s portfolio appetite.
Collaborate with products development and regional managers to review and develop products.
Partner with other business functions (CIB, Asset Finance, Bancassurance, Lead generation) to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
Conduct market intelligence to identify new opportunities, trends, and regulatory policy changes.
Manage borrowing and non-borrowing accounts to enhance customer loyalty and retention.
Lead the branch team in customer retention, transaction migration to alternate channels, balance sheet growth, and acquisition goals.
Establish relationships with top 200 clients and local business influencers.
Open and close the branch in accordance with approved regulatory timelines and Core Banking system requirements.
Adhere to KYC and AML policies, identify risk of financial crime, and safeguard records.
Oversee strict cost management (expenditure, equipment maintenance, overtime approvals, stationery, travel, staff costs) in conjunction with the Branch Operation Lead (BOL).
Ensure strict adherence to operational, security, control, and process risk guidelines through the BOL.
Maintain a minimum "Satisfactory" audit rating through continuous assessment and prompt closure of exceptions.
Ensure all relevant system reports are printed, reviewed, signed off, and filed timely per Absa Records Management policy.
Ensure all fees and commissions due to the bank are collected.
Drive quality sales by managing unfunded accounts, uncollected cards, and delinquency.
Ensure compliance with data privacy policies at the branch.
Customer Experience (15%)
Maintain look and feel of the branch according to Absa standards.
Ensure excellent customer experience and achieve/maintain branch NPS standards.
Promptly address and resolve customer queries and complaints.
Monitor counter services to ensure waiting times are within acceptable limits.
Capacity Building & People Management (10%)
Build, develop, and motivate a high-performing team by fostering a conducive work environment.
Set performance objectives, handle resource planning, and provide regular coaching and mentoring.
Determine Training Needs Analysis and Succession plans for direct reports.
Manage branch staff leave, sickness, and performance/disciplinary issues.
Requirements
Education: A University degree in a relevant discipline. Post-graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA/MSc/MA) are an added advantage.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in Banking / Financial Services, with at least 3 years specifically in branch management with a good track record of performance.
Prior experience in the banking industry including supervisory or managerial positions.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
Solid understanding of financial products, services, lending procedures, and investment options.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
Knowledge of computerized banking applications, spreadsheets, and basic credit underwriting.
Understanding of banking regulations, compliance requirements (CBK, KBA, KRA), and risk management practices.
