The Branch Manager position is responsible for meeting branch Retail and SME Financial Targets through a world-class Sales and Service Management system and established product programs. This role collaborates closely with the Central Operations Unit to ensure the branch operates smoothly and efficiently, adhering strictly to all financial institution and Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regulations and guidelines. Servicing corporate customers is also part of this role's scope.
Key Responsibilities
The Branch Manager is accountable for:
Overall Branch Performance: Delivering great business performance by managing all aspects of running a successful branch.
Team Leadership: Leading and motivating staff to provide the best customer experience in the area.
Business Growth: Driving product sales (CASA and Fee Growth) and Customer Service, while maintaining oversight on branch operations, compliance, and control.
Relationship Management: Understanding the customer base to identify opportunities to build and grow profitable relationships, acquiring new customers, and retaining existing ones.
Operational Management: Ensuring the operational efficiency of the branch and staff productivity.
Record Keeping & Compliance: Overseeing the operation and maintenance of integrated systems and ensuring the retention of accurate and up-to-date records for all transactions, including inter-bank transactions.
Reporting: Preparing periodic and statutory reports for management.
Security & Control: Maintaining a strong understanding of branch control procedures, with a focus on financial security.
Problem Resolution: Taking ownership of resolving complex customer problems, coordinating with other offices/branches for seamless service delivery.
Service Culture: Promoting a superior level of customer relations through coaching, guidance, and staff motivation.
Community Engagement: Participating in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and enhance new and existing business opportunities.
Support Duties: Performing other duties as directed by the Cluster Head, especially in the absence of the MCSOP / Ops Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
A University degree in Business Administration or Economics, combined with relevant professional qualifications in banking, finance, or marketing.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in a similar position.
Good leadership, people management, and banking skills.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, sales, and business principles.
Outstanding communication skills.
Strong commercial know-how and first-class decision-making abilities.
Must be a good relationship builder and a strategic thinker, emphasizing strategy over purely operational focus.
Must be resilient under pressure.
