This position is for an Assistant Relationship Manager supporting the Agri Retail segment at NMB Bank, based in Dar es Salaam. The role is crucial for providing day-to-day administrative, operational, and preparatory assistance to Relationship Managers and partners, ensuring compliance, smooth communication, and effective management of agricultural retail accounts and engagements.
Main Responsibilities
Engagement Documentation: Prepare necessary engagement documents, such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) and related draft documents, ensuring all engagement conditions are accurately captured, and liaising with the Credit/Legal departments accordingly.
Client & Partner Support: Address client and partner inquiries promptly and resolve any arising issues, providing essential day-to-day assistance.
Secretarial & Coordination: Perform secretarial duties during departmental meetings and ensure timely follow-up and execution of agreed actions involving partners and the bank.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports and documents required by internal and external stakeholders, including Bancassurance, Credit, Quality Assurance, Auditors, and BOT examiners.
Account Monitoring: Assist in the management of partners’ accounts by monitoring account activities and transactions.
Compliance and Performance Tracking: Prepare periodic reports on partners’ performance, ensure compliance with post-approval conditions or engagement terms, and prepare documentation for Management and relevant forums/committees.
Risk & Relationship Monitoring: Work closely with Relationship Managers and branches to monitor the daily performance of partners, specifically tracking expiring agreements, breaches of terms, and required corrective actions.
Liaison Duties: Serve as the communication bridge between the partners and the Bank to ensure smooth and effective interaction.
Onboarding Support: Assist Relationship Managers in onboarding new partners, ensuring a seamless process where all necessary information is correctly collected and processed.
Legal Review: Conduct daily reviews of expired agreements and outstanding obligations in collaboration with the Legal and Compliance departments.
Market Research: Conduct market research to generate insights that support the department in developing beneficial partnership strategies for the bank.
Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English & Swahili.
A sound understanding of Business Banking products and services.
Familiarity with the Core Banking Operating System (Flex cube) and Business Intelligence (BI) system.
Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal and networking abilities for managing both internal and external customers.
The capacity to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting, and execute duties under pressure.
Well-developed analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities.
The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player, capable of operating under minimum supervision.
Knowledge related to reviewing and drafting legal contracts.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other relevant fields.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a Retail Banking, Credit, or Legal department.
