The Barista role at Java House is crucial for delivering the renowned Java experience to customers by expertly preparing and serving high-quality hot and cold beverages. This position requires strong operational discipline and excellent customer interaction skills to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan, and specialty beverages.
- Handling customer interactions at various levels of customer touch points.
- Consistently following the set Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.s) during production.
- Advising the Barista in charge on stock levels.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and working counter at all times.
- Assisting the barista in charge in running the barista counter.
- Performing the daily stock take of counter products at the end of the shift.
- Collaborating with other team members to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Ensuring sufficient supply of products for sale in the counter by doing sufficient back up.
- Ensuring all take-away and eat-in orders are dispensed promptly according to the order docket.
- Arranging the pastry case and ensuring that it is always clean.
- Reconfirming of orders done on Vuka (POS/ordering system).
- Controlling of wastages.
- Ensuring there is enough change at all times.
- Maintaining shift float money and ensuring no shortages.
- Timely closure of counter variances.
- Taking care of counter machines.
- Ensure countable daily stock are done correctly.
- Carry out any other task as may be instructed by superiors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
- Required Experience: Candidates should have 2 years working experience as a certified Java House Africa Staff or 3 years working experience as a Barista in a certified coffee store.
- Mandatory Internal Experience: A minimum of 6 months working experience as a certified Java House Staff in the Service Department is required.

- In-house training in baristaring and service is necessary.
