Role Overview
HR Fleek is seeking an Associate Advocate specializing in Real Estate, Banking, and Finance for a position based in Mombasa. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling complex real estate transactions, managing the perfection of securities, and providing high-level legal advice to financial institutions and individual clients.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate Transactions: Handle residential and commercial real estate transactions, including drafting and reviewing sale agreements, leases, and transfers. Ensure familiarity with the Sectional Properties Act and conduct comprehensive land-related due diligence.
Securities Perfection: Manage the perfection of securities such as Charges, Mortgages, and Debentures, ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements of various financial institutions.
Drafting & Negotiation: Draft and negotiate transactional documents, including facility agreements, joint venture agreements, and legal opinions.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, financial lenders, and estate agents, providing regular status updates and professional legal advice.
Registry Coordination: Oversee the filing and registration process at various government registries (Lands, Companies, etc.) with support from the clerical team.
Legal Research: Conduct meticulous legal research and document proofing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Requirements and Qualifications
An LL.B Degree with at least Second-Class Upper Division from a recognized university.
Admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid, current Practicing Certificate.
Three (3) to four (4) years of relevant post-admission experience in a reputable law firm.
Experience in handling residential and commercial real estate transactions and perfection of securities.
Demonstrated high ethical standards and sound decision-making.
Commercial awareness and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and support staff.
