Associate Advocate, Real Estate Banking and Finance

Key Responsibilities

• Real Estate Transactions: Handle residential and commercial real estate transactions, including drafting and reviewing sale agreements, leases, and transfers. Ensure familiarity with the Sectional Properties Act and conduct comprehensive land-related due diligence.
• Securities Perfection: Manage the perfection of securities such as Charges, Mortgages, and Debentures, ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements of various financial institutions.
• Drafting & Negotiation: Draft and negotiate transactional documents, including facility agreements, joint venture agreements, and legal opinions.
• Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, financial lenders, and estate agents, providing regular status updates and professional legal advice.
• Registry Coordination: Oversee the filing and registration process at various government registries (Lands, Companies, etc.) with support from the clerical team.
• Legal Research: Conduct meticulous legal research and document proofing to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• An LL.B Degree with at least Second-Class Upper Division from a recognized university.
• Admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid, current Practicing Certificate.
• Three (3) to four (4) years of relevant post-admission experience in a reputable law firm.
• Experience in handling residential and commercial real estate transactions and perfection of securities.
• Demonstrated high ethical standards and sound decision-making.
• Commercial awareness and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and support staff.
