Interactive Resource Management Ltd, a Human Resource management consulting firm, is seeking an Assistant Workshop Supervisor on behalf of their client. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the maintenance and operational efficiency of the company's fleet, specifically focusing on heavy commercial vehicles and Actros trucks. This role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising day-to-day operations on the workshop floor while ensuring adherence to safety standards and legal compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operational Management: Plan, coordinate, and supervise day-to-day operations on the workshop floor. Allocate tasks and duties to workshop staff and provide daily supervision.
Fleet Maintenance: Ensure all company vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and repaired to required standards. Oversee and participate in vehicle repair and maintenance work to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant.
Inventory and Supplies: Receive and verify deliveries of supplies, tools, materials, and equipment, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. Inspect and approve all parts for purchase to ensure they are genuine and durable.
Safety and Standards: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety within the workshop. Enforce safe working practices and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records for vehicles and equipment, ensuring all workshop documents and maintenance logs are up to date and properly filed.
Inspections and Compliance: Prepare company vehicles for annual general police inspections and ensure specialized tools are in good working condition.
Emergency Support: Attend to on-road breakdowns promptly and respond to road accidents involving company trucks, including recovery and temporary repairs.
Reporting: Identify and report additional vehicle defects, recurring problems, and any factors delaying work to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Education, and Skills
Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience in vehicle maintenance, mechanical repair, and workshop supervision.
Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience working with Actros trucks is mandatory. Experience with heavy commercial vehicles is mandatory.
Education: Diploma or Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Competencies: Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
