Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III - Building Technology/ Water Technology (Plumbing)

The County Government of Kisumu is seeking an Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III specializing in Building Technology/Water Technology (Plumbing). This is a permanent and pensionable full-time position (4 posts available) responsible for delivering specialized vocational and technical training to trainees in accordance with approved curricula and established standards.

Terms of Service

• Type: Permanent and Pensionable
• Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 27,900 - 36,680
• House Allowance: Ksh 3,850 - 4,500
• Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000
• Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
• Annual Leave: 30 working days.
• Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu

Duties and Responsibilities

For ALL Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III roles, the duties and responsibilities will entail:

1. Deliver specialized training in accordance with approved curricula and established standards of instruction.
2. Develop and prepare comprehensive teaching and learning materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional aids.
3. Design, administer, and evaluate examinations and assignments to assess trainees’ knowledge, skills, and competencies.
4. Undertake research and innovation activities under the guidance and mentorship of a senior trainer to enhance instructional content and methodology.
5. Supervise trainees in the execution of projects, industrial attachments, and practical work to ensure the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must fulfill the following essential requirements:

• Be a Kenyan Citizen.
• Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
• Hold a Diploma in any of the following disciplines or an equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution:
  • Technical Education (Building Technology/Water Technology (Plumbing));
  • Building Technology/Water Technology (Plumbing);
  • Education/Technical Education: Building Technology/Water Technology (Plumbing).
• Have Registration with the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET).
• Have Proficiency in computer applications.
• Have fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.

Added Advantage:

• Training in Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum.

Note on Foreign Degrees

Candidates with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by the Commission for Higher Education (CHE). During the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the Issuing Institutions to the Board. Chapter 6 requirements will only be required from successful applicants.
