Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III - Automotive Engineering

The Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III, specializing in Automotive Engineering, is sought for a permanent and pensionable position within the County Government of Kisumu. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality, specialized vocational training in accordance with approved curricula and established instructional standards. The Trainer will be responsible for creating comprehensive teaching materials, assessing trainee performance, supervising practical application of skills, and engaging in continuous instructional improvement.

Terms of Service and Compensation

• Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
• Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 27,900 - 36,680
• House Allowance: Ksh 3,850 - 4,500
• Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000
• Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
• Annual Leave: 30 working days
• Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu

Duties and Responsibilities

For ALL the Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer III cadres, the duties and responsibilities entail:

1. Deliver specialized training in accordance with approved curricula and established standards of instruction.
2. Develop and prepare comprehensive teaching and learning materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional aids.
3. Design, administer, and evaluate examinations and assignments to assess trainees’ knowledge, skills, and competencies.
4. Undertake research and innovation activities under the guidance and mentorship of a senior trainer to enhance instructional content and methodology.
5. Supervise trainees in the execution of projects, industrial attachments, and practical work to ensure the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

1. Be a Kenyan Citizen.
2. Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
3. Possess a Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Technical Education (Automotive Engineering); Automotive Engineering; Education/Technical Education; or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
4. Have Registration with the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET).
5. Proficiency in computer applications.
6. Have fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya (required from successful applicants).

Training in Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum will be an added advantage.
