Yatima Outreach Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in 2013, is seeking an Agriculture and Biology Teacher for the Junior Secondary School level. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi. The organization's ministry in Kenya began in 2012. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in the assigned subjects, maintaining discipline, and contributing to the spiritual and co-curricular life of the school.
Role Details
The primary responsibilities of the Junior Secondary School Teacher include:
- Ensure coverage of the syllabus, quality of teaching, and effectiveness of learning outcomes.
- Coordinate various co-curricular activities and school-based events in the area assigned.
- Enforce rules for behavior, behavior rectification, school policies, and procedures to maintain order among students.
- Build and maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with parents, guardians, and sponsors.
- Promote Christ-likeness within the school through activities including but not limited to regular devotional and prayer sessions.
- Attend professional meetings and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Keep relevant school records to the required standards as per work demands.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a Diploma in Education, B.Ed Degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution in Kenya.
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience.
- Be CBC-compliant.
- Must be a born again Christian, TSC licensed (Teachers Service Commission).
- Be competent in handling Agriculture and Biology subject combinations.
- Be conversant and compliant with Kenyan education systems, standards, trends, the Children’s Act, teachers’ code of ethics, child protection policies, regulations, rights, relevant government policy and legislation.
- An understanding of the social dynamics of the community and the general geographical area is a distinct advantage.
