The Advisor II, Resource Mobilization at ChildFund International is responsible for strengthening resource mobilization capacity by creating user-friendly tools and developing and facilitating trainings that advance resource mobilization skills. The role also supports the adoption of improved systems and processes while leading diverse teams to drive efficient and effective proposal development processes for high-value and highly strategic opportunities with foundations, corporations, and institutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Proposal Management: Lead matrixed diverse teams to drive efficient and effective proposal development processes for high-value and highly strategic opportunities with foundations, corporations, and institutions.
Strategy Development: Develop winning proposal strategies including cost, technical, and co-investment components.
Competitive Analysis: Undertake in-depth competitive analysis that informs win themes and design.
Consortium Engagement: Identify, negotiate, and engage consortium partners for strategic bids.
Capacity Building: Coach, mentor, and train Country Office staff across regions on ChildFund’s resource mobilization processes and systems.
Training Development: Develop training materials and tools across the resource mobilization life cycle to increase win rates.
Business Intelligence: Research funding trends, analyze desk research on emerging opportunities, and create specific capability statements.
Prepositioning: Support the development and execution of multi-pronged prepositioning plans for target donors.
Writing & Editing: Lead the writing or editing of proposal sections and draft resource mobilization consultant scopes of work.
Review & Learning: Lead after-action reviews of proposal development efforts and support synthesis of learning across teams.
Metric Analysis: Support pipeline forecasting and analysis of resource mobilization metrics.
Safeguarding: Promote strong safeguarding practices and remain responsive to safeguarding risks in line with organizational policies.
Required Experience and Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree in international relations, business administration, or a related field (required). MA, MBA, or MPA preferred.
Experience: 6-8 years of experience winning multi-million dollar grants (over $10M preferred) with bilaterals (US DOS, MCC, DFC), multilaterals, foundations, and corporations.
Capture Activities: At least 3 years of experience leading advanced prepositioning and capture activities.
Training: At least 3 years of experience in training development and facilitation, specifically in resource mobilization.
Regional Exposure: Experience living and working in a developing country is required.
Sector Knowledge: Preference for experience in child-centered sectors such as education, livelihoods, sustainability, and protection.
Travel: Ability to travel internationally on a regular basis.
