The job holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely original accounting entries and records while delivering high-quality client service to internal and external customers, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures in all accounting processes.
Responsibilities
Maintain full ownership of all General Ledger accounts, ensuring they are reconciled at all times.
Prepare bi-monthly bank reconciliations and maintain fixed assets register modules through the core banking system.
Propose and implement revised finance and procurement policies.
Implement system upgrades affecting accounts operations and reporting.
Ensure accurate and timely posting of entries while maintaining data integrity in the core banking system.
Correctly match all accounting entries to their budgeted cost and revenue centers.
Manage timely accruals of all costs and revenues.
Process timely payments to suppliers and handle customer payment requests while verifying documentation.
Ensure timely settlement of statutory obligations such as taxes and loan obligations.
File statutory reports to regulators by the specified deadlines.
Manage cashflows at the bank level to ensure adequacy at all times.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual accounts (balance sheet, profit and loss statement) in adherence to relevant IFRS.
Provide oversight on overall adherence to the budget and manage OPEX proactively.
Reconcile payroll after postings and handle financial discrepancies by analyzing account information.
Provide guidance, training, and performance management for reporting staff.
Act as an agent of the bank and handle timely treasury replenishment across all branches.
Qualifications and Requirements
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
CPA (K) or ACCA Finalist status is mandatory.
A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
At least 3 years of working experience in a similar position in the banking industry, preferably a regulated Microfinance Bank.
