Job Description
The Account Manager – Public Relations & Events Management will lead the development and execution of strategic communications and high-impact events for client accounts across East Africa. This role is responsible for building strong client relationships, delivering compelling narratives, securing media coverage, and executing events that drive brand visibility, stakeholder engagement, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
Develop and implement integrated communications strategies aligned with client objectives.
Ensure consistent messaging across markets within East Africa.
Content Development & Storytelling
Write and edit high-quality press releases, speeches, briefs, and reports.
Translate complex technical or business concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
Media Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media houses, bloggers, and industry platforms.
Identify media opportunities and secure impactful coverage across the region.
Events Management
Plan and execute executive roundtables, stakeholder forums, conferences, and high-level engagements.
Manage end-to-end event delivery, including logistics, stakeholder coordination, and on-site execution.
Digital & Social Media Integration
Collaborate with digital teams to amplify PR campaigns and event messaging across relevant platforms.
Support content alignment across traditional and digital channels.
Lead Generation Support
Work closely with outreach and business development teams to align communications and events with revenue objectives.
Ensure events and campaigns contribute to pipeline development.
Client Account Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
Manage client relationships, expectations, reporting, and overall account performance.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all client work.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
Minimum 5+ years of post-graduate experience in PR, communications, events management, or account management.
Experience working across multiple markets within East Africa is an advantage.
Experience in using AI tools to analyse data and generate reports.
Proven track record in media relations and securing high-quality coverage.
Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats (press releases, speeches, reports, etc.).
Demonstrated experience in planning and executing high-level professional events.
Solid understanding of social media as a communications and amplification tool.
Experience in B2B sectors, particularly technology and/or energy, is preferred.
