The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is seeking to recruit Voter Educators to support electoral processes during by-elections. Voter Educators will report to the Constituency Returning Officer and play a key role in sensitizing citizens, distributing educational materials, and engaging community partners to ensure democratic participation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and distribute voter education, information, communication, and publicity materials.
- Map and engage state and non-state partner organizations such as media agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Religious Organizations, Government ministries, and opinion shapers/influencers.
- Identify and engage public benefit organizations serving marginalized groups such as women, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and ethnic minorities.
- Conduct voter education through face-to-face meetings, mainstream media, and social media platforms.
- Represent the Returning Officer (RO) in partner-organized forums and meetings.
- Address concerns raised by the public.
- Assist the RO in conducting briefing sessions for accredited voter education providers, election observers, and media practitioners.
- Receive, consolidate, and address election-related concerns raised by the public.
- Compile voter education, partnerships, communications, and stakeholder engagement reports for review by the RO.
- Submit a constituency-based report to the RO upon completion of the voter education exercise.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the RO.
Wages
- Constituency Voter Educators: Kshs. 2,000 per day
- Ward-based Voter Educators: Kshs. 1,500 per day
