Pesapal is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Treasury Manager to lead the company's treasury operations across multiple markets. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Treasury Manager will be responsible for managing liquidity, safeguarding customer funds, optimizing cash utilization, overseeing settlement funding, maintaining strategic banking relationships, and ensuring robust treasury controls in a high-volume digital payments environment.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring seamless payment operations, minimizing financial risk, and supporting the continued growth of Pesapal's payments ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Liquidity & Cash Flow Management
- Monitor daily cash positions across bank accounts, wallets, and settlement accounts.
- Develop accurate short and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
- Optimize idle cash balances while maintaining sufficient liquidity for operational requirements.
- Ensure adequate funding for daily settlement obligations across all operating markets.
- Recommend short-term investment opportunities aligned with the company's treasury policy.
Banking & Treasury Operations
- Manage relationships with banks, payment networks, and other financial partners.
- Oversee bank account administration, mandates, and treasury documentation.
- Ensure compliance with approved banking mandates and treasury policies.
- Review bank reconciliations across all markets and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Identify opportunities to improve treasury efficiency and reduce banking costs.
Settlement Funding Management
- Ensure adequate funding for merchant settlements, card scheme obligations, and partner payments.
- Safeguard customer funds in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor settlement reconciliations across all operating markets.
- Drive continuous improvements in settlement funding processes and payment infrastructure.
- Partner with Settlement Operations to ensure timely and accurate merchant settlements.
Treasury Risk, Controls & Compliance
- Manage liquidity, foreign exchange, settlement, and counterparty risks.
- Develop and enforce treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, audit standards, and internal governance frameworks.
- Support internal and external audits relating to treasury operations.
- Monitor financial exposures and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare treasury reports, liquidity reports, and cash flow analysis for executive leadership.
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of treasury transactions.
- Review treasury balances, cash equivalents, and foreign currency positions.
- Support monthly financial close activities and management reporting.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the Treasury team.
- Establish departmental KPIs and performance objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive automation and process optimization across treasury operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA(K), ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is required.
- A Treasury qualification such as Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in Treasury, Cash Management, Corporate Finance, or Financial Operations.
- Experience within fintech, banking, payment services, or financial services is highly preferred.
- Experience managing treasury operations across multiple markets is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, settlement processes, and banking operations.
