Job Description
The Tourism Officer II role is the entry and training grade for this cadre within the County Government of Kakamega. Working under the guidance of a Senior Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the growth of the local tourism industry through reporting, strategic design, and regulatory enforcement. This position is offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms.
Responsibilities
Reporting and Data Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports regarding tourist arrivals within the County.
Strategy Development: Assist in developing and designing strategic initiatives to increase the number of tourists visiting the County.
Promotion and Marketing: Develop and produce publicity and promotional materials to market Kakamega County as a key tourist destination.
Regulatory Enforcement: Assist in the classification of hotels and the enforcement of existing tourism and hospitality laws.
Inspection and Litigation: Conduct hotel inspections and investigations, and initiate litigation at the Sub-county and ward levels when necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for appointment to this grade, candidates must possess:
A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Tourism Management, Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Tours and Travel Management, Wildlife Enterprise and Management, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
