The role of the Tour Consultant involves developing, customizing, and managing high-quality travel itineraries and operations for various clientele, including corporate, leisure, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and specialty groups. This position requires hands-on management of end-to-end logistics, ensuring exceptional service delivery, strong client relationship building, and effective supplier negotiation to achieve business objectives and optimized margins.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and customize high-quality itineraries for corporate, leisure, MICE, and specialty groups, ensuring 100% alignment with client objectives and budget.
- Manage end-to-end tour operations, coordinating flights, hotels, transfers, excursions, and supplier arrangements to achieve a 98%+ service delivery accuracy rate.
- Conduct thorough client needs assessments and propose value-driven travel solutions that increase conversion rates by 20–30%.
- Negotiate and secure competitive rates with local and international suppliers to optimize margins and reduce operational costs.
- Strengthen client relationships by providing proactive communication, rapid issue resolution, and exceptional after-travel support, contributing to high client retention scores.
- Coordinate with finance to ensure timely invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciliation, maintaining 100% compliance with internal processes.
- Lead, train, and mentor junior consultants to uplift service standards, enhance product knowledge, and improve departmental efficiency.
- Conduct destination research and continuously update internal databases to ensure ATS Travel remains competitive and current in global travel trends.
- Generate sales reports, forecasts, and performance analytics to support strategic decisions and demonstrate measurable outcomes.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, company SOPs, and risk-management guidelines for all tours and travel operations.
- Represent ATS Travel at client meetings, presentations, and industry events to strengthen brand visibility and drive potential business leads.
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Travel & Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in IATA/UFTAA, Tour Operations, Travel Consultancy, or GDS systems (Amadeus/Galileo/Sabre) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in tour operations or travel consultancy within a reputable travel agency or tour company.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in group travel management, corporate travel, and specialized itineraries (e.g., educational, business, MICE).
- Strong track record of building client relationships, handling end-to-end tour logistics, and closing high-value travel packages.
- Practical experience working with global suppliers, DMCs, airlines, and hotel partners.
- Proficiency in online booking tools and travel management systems.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is an added advantage.
