The Technician role at Inchcape Kenya LTD in Mombasa involves conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments, maintenance, and repairs primarily on tractors and mechanical systems. This position requires troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues effectively, both in the field and within the workshop environment, ensuring all work strictly adheres to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Assessments and Repair: Conduct diagnostic assessments and repairs on tractors and mechanical systems, troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues both in the field and the workshop.
- Technical Overhauls: Execute technical overhauls including engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, and brake or hydraulic system fixes according to OEM standards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication, ensuring all routine services follow manufacturer guidelines.
- Equipment Preparation: Manage pre-delivery inspections and the assembly of new units to ensure equipment readiness.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure quality assurance by testing repaired equipment for proper functionality and safety compliance while meticulously documenting all maintenance performed.
- Customer Service: Provide professional customer service by communicating repair needs to clients, offering equipment care recommendations, and advising supervisors on maintenance requirements.
- Workshop Compliance: Maintain workshop safety and compliance by adhering to occupational health and safety regulations and keeping a clean, organized work environment.
- Tool Management and Documentation: Oversee tool management, ensuring diagnostic equipment is properly maintained, and keeping accurate service records and part usage logs.
- Technical Support: Deliver technical support and training to operators and colleagues, and complete warranty or product improvement work as per OEM instructions.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in continuous learning through mandatory OEM and company training sessions to stay updated on agricultural machinery functionality.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
To be successful in this role you would need:
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience specifically in agricultural or heavy machinery servicing.
- Education: A minimum technical diploma or certification (BA/BSc/HND, Diploma) in mechanical/automotive engineering or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude with specific knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
- Operational Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and OEM instructions accurately.
- Soft Skills: Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
