Job Description
Role Overview
The Technical Assistant I (Grade 4) is a specialized position within the Department of Ecology and Genetics at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Ref: JKU/ADM/TECH-I/7/2025). This role is essential for supporting the university's technical operations, research initiatives, and instructional activities within laboratory and field environments.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support in laboratory and field operations specialized in ecology and genetics.
Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of scientific equipment and technical materials.
Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions, experiments, and research projects.
Ensure accurate recording and management of technical data and inventory within the department.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment, strictly adhering to health and safety protocols.
Perform any other technical duties as assigned by the supervisor within the grade level.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess a Certificate in Ecology Genetics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
At least five (5) years’ relevant working experience in Grade 3.
Must have a KCSE/KCE/EACE academic certificate.
