The role of the System Operator is to ensure reliable water production, pumping, treatment, and distribution within their assigned site (Mutyambua). This involves operating technical equipment, meticulously maintaining operational logs, and supporting both preventive and emergency maintenance activities to guarantee uninterrupted water service for the community. This position reports directly to the Technical Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Water Production & Pump Operation
- Operate boreholes, pumps, water treatment systems, and solar systems.
- Record pumping hours, flows, and pressures.
Treatment & Water Quality Support
- Monitor chlorine dosing, tank hygiene, and system cleanliness.
- Support water quality sampling.
System Monitoring & Maintenance
- Inspect equipment and report faults immediately.
- Perform minor maintenance and repair as directed by the Technical Officer.
- Support preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
Distribution Support
- Report leaks, bursts, and illegal connections.
- Assist in meter inspections and valve operations.
Reporting
- Maintain daily logs and submit operational data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Craft Certificate/Certificate in Water Operations, Plumbing, or Mechanical engineering.
- Experience in pump operations, and operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Systems is an advantage.
