The System Operator ensures reliable water production, pumping, treatment, and distribution within assigned sites in Kambu. This role involves operating essential equipment, maintaining detailed logs, and supporting routine preventive maintenance to guarantee uninterrupted water service. The System Operator reports directly to the Technical Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Water Production & Pump Operation
- Operate boreholes, pumps, water treatment systems, and solar systems.
- Record pumping hours, flows, and pressures accurately.
Treatment & Water Quality Support
- Monitor chlorine dosing processes, tank hygiene, and overall system cleanliness.
- Support activities related to water quality sampling.
System Monitoring & Maintenance
- Inspect equipment regularly and report any faults immediately to the Technical Officer.
- Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as directed.
- Support preventive maintenance schedules and participate in emergency repairs.
Distribution Support
- Report leaks, bursts, and illegal connections promptly.
- Assist in conducting meter inspections and valve operations.
Reporting
- Maintain daily operational logs and submit comprehensive operational data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Craft Certificate/Certificate in Water Operations, Plumbing, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in pump operations, and operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Systems is an advantage.
