Study Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the project manager to plan and deliver research work.
• Prepare study materials, including training documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Develop work plans aligned with project deliverables.
• Coordinate and oversee data collection and management, ensuring data quality checks, proper storage, and archiving.
• Supervise research assistants assigned to the project.
• Coordinate adherence to technical and financial requirements set by funders.
• Ensure full compliance with policies on the ethical conduct of research and human subject protections.
• Coordinate the shipping of laboratory samples locally and internationally.
• Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or any other Biomedical Sciences degree from a recognized institution (Mandatory).
• Master’s degree in a vaccine-related course (Added Advantage).
• Well-versed with protocol development and ethical approval processes (Mandatory).
• Experience working in an immunology laboratory (Mandatory).
• Experience working in a research organization (Mandatory).
• Certificate in 'Good Clinical Practice' (GCP) and/or 'Human Subjects Protection' and 'Good Clinical and Laboratory Practice' (GCLP) (Mandatory).
• Proficiency in computer applications and statistical software packages (Mandatory).
• Experience working with HIV research or Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) research (Added Advantage).
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili (Mandatory).
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods (Mandatory).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Desirable).
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to troubleshoot in a dynamic work environment (Desirable).
• Independent judgment, resourcefulness, and a strong understanding of the local social, geographical, and community landscape (Desirable).
• Detail-oriented with strong reporting skills (Desirable).
