Store Person

Role Overview

The Store Person is responsible for the daily management of storehouse activities, ensuring efficient receipt, issuance, and documentation of all items. The role involves managing the backloading bay, ensuring compliance with stock maintenance programs, and maintaining accurate records for both general and hazardous items.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Receipt and Issue: Manage the receipt and issue of various items, including items destined for backloading.
• Inventory Audits: Perform frequent periodic checks on stock items and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Documentation: Prepare accurate backloading documentation and ensure Certified True Copy actions are completed.
• Logistics Support: Book and load containers for backloading in the absence of the Senior Technical Stores Person.
• Stock Maintenance: Ensure strict compliance with the stock maintenance programme.
• Operations: Oversee the smooth daily operation of the backloading bay.

Secondary Duties

• Facility Maintenance: Ensure all equipment and storage areas are kept clean and properly maintained daily.
• Record Keeping: Ensure the timely filing and collation of accountable documentation.
• Hazardous Materials: Ensure hazardous stores are correctly marked and that dangerous goods notes are accurately completed for equipment being backloaded.
• Supply Management: Re-demand all packing materials used by the storehouse.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Check that all discrepancies are processed correctly and submitted to the S&R cell.
• Equipment Care: Ensure that Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) is maintained in roadworthy condition and report any faults to Barloworld.
• Container Logistics: Ensure ISO containers for backloading have correct markings and that items are packed and dunnaged correctly.
• Deputization: Deputize for the Senior Technical Store Person and perform other duties as directed by the Storehouse SNCO or MLM.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Certificate or Diploma in Stores Management, Procurement and Suppliers Management, or a related Business course from a recognized institution.
• Secondary Education: Minimum C plain O-Level standard in English (Both Written and Oral).
• Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role within an equivalent-sized organization.
• Language: Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
• Licenses (Desirable): Valid Category C Kenyan Driving Licence and qualification as a Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator.
