As a Sourcing Category Specialist at KCB Bank Kenya, you will be responsible for the strategic acquisition of goods and services required by various user departments. This role involves selecting optimal sourcing approaches, publishing and managing tenders, and conducting high-level negotiations to ensure the bank receives the best value in terms of costs and supply terms. You will act as a key interface between internal departments and external suppliers, ensuring that all procurement activities align with bank standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Acquisition & Tender Management: Manage the acquisition of goods and services by selecting the most optimal sourcing approaches, publishing, and managing tenders.
Supplier Negotiations: Lead negotiations with suppliers to deliver the best value for the Bank regarding costs and supply terms.
Stakeholder Management: Map key stakeholders and manage relationships to guarantee seamless execution of requests, including Branch Managers, Heads of Departments, Suppliers, and regulators.
Market Analysis: Perform benchmarking exercises and analyze market trend data to provide insights for category-level decision-making.
Compliance & Controls: Implement standards, controls, processes, or regulatory procedures for the assigned Category.
Performance Monitoring: Review Supplier Performance for the assigned Category, collate and analyze data for Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and participate in review meetings.
Customer Service: Track and respond to customer enquiries and complaints, resolving issues within set service level agreements.
Expediting: Follow-up and expedite deliveries with Vendors to ensure operational continuity.
Requirements
Academic & Professional
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Related fields, Social Sciences, or Supply Chain Management is required (RQ).
Practising License: Valid Practising License from the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is required (RQ).
Professional Qualifications: Membership of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is required (RQ).
Added Advantage: Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent is an added advantage (AA). A Master's degree (MBA/Business Related) is also an added advantage (AA).
Experience
Total Experience: Minimum of 3 years of overall professional experience.
Functional Experience: At least 2 years of experience in Purchasing, 2 years in Customer Service, and 2 years in Commercial experience (negotiation, market analysis, and knowledge).
