This pivotal role as Senior Legal Officer involves leading the legal support for the group's diverse corporate and commercial activities in Nairobi, with a mandatory focus on real estate and property law.
Key Responsibilities
- Real Estate & Property Transactions: Lead legal support for property acquisitions, leases, developments, and disposals, including drafting, negotiation, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.
- Commercial Contracts & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including manufacturing, distribution, services, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and shareholder agreements, and manage contract lifecycle obligations.
- Corporate Governance & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee statutory filings, licenses, permits, and ongoing compliance with Kenyan laws and sector regulations.
- IP, Data Protection & Legal Risk: Support protection of intellectual property, ensure data protection compliance under Kenyan law, and assist with litigation and dispute management.
- Advisory & Stakeholder Support: Provide legal support to management, board, and group entities on strategic and operational matters.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree.
- Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
- Minimum 10 years of post-admission experience in corporate/commercial environments.
- Strong expertise in real estate/property law is mandatory.
- Exposure to Intellectual Property (IP), data protection, regulatory compliance, and pharmaceutical sectors is highly desirable.
