The Senior Inspector (Buildings) is a technical role within the Narok County Government, primarily responsible for the oversight of construction and maintenance of county buildings. Officers in this position serve as the Clerk of Works for new construction projects or as supervisors for repairs and alterations to existing structures. The role ensures that all works are performed according to architectural and engineering specifications, maintaining structural integrity and project quality across the county's infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Serving as the Clerk of Works for buildings currently under construction to ensure standards are met.
Supervising alterations, maintenance, and repairs of existing county-owned buildings.
Reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to ensure site work matches planned designs.
Conducting site inspections and comparing drawing details with physical progress.
Compiling comprehensive weekly site reports to monitor and document work progress.
Supervising artisans engaged in maintenance and repair activities at various depots.
Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must have served in the grade of Inspector (Buildings) or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Private Sector for a minimum of three (3) years.
A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Building and Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.
Alternatively, a Construction Technician Certificate Part III or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
