Narok County Government, formed under the County Governments Act of 2012, is seeking to recruit two (2) Engineers II for its Roads and Civil works department. This is an entry and training grade into the engineering cadre. An Engineer at this level will work under the guidance of a designated supervisor to support the development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the county's road infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
Developing preliminary designs and preparing working drawings for the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of roads and highway structures.
Taking part in supervising road works.
Participating in undertaking quality assurance, technical, performance, and road safety audits and assessments.
Preparing quality take-off sheets, cost estimates, and tender documentation for road works.
Participating in the implementation of road safety engineering programs and risk management activities.
Taking part in feasibility studies and environmental social impact assessments to determine viability for development of roads infrastructure.
Collecting and collating data for scoping and research.
Compiling and collating data pertaining to road works and maintaining an inventory.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this role, an officer must have:
A Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) as a Graduate Engineer.
Proficiency in computer applications.
