The Senior Accountant role, based in Makueni, reports directly to the Finance Manager and is designed to support high-level finance matters, including acting in the Finance Manager’s absence when required. This position holds key responsibilities for team management, ensuring robust financial control, preparing essential monthly and annual reports, and oversight of critical tax and treasury functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger, prepare, and post payroll Journals.
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset register accurately.
- Oversee and maintain both the supplier ledger and customer ledgers.
- Check and verify stores issues notes and goods received notes, ensuring posted inventory batches are updated correctly in the general ledger.
- Prepare, assist, guide, and supervise monthly payroll processes.
- Compile and process statutory tax and social security returns, including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and SHIF/SHA returns.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and other relevant financial reports for stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- CPA (K) qualification is mandatory.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision, meet set targets, and adhere strictly to reporting deadlines.
- Possess strong communication skills coupled with keen attention to detail.
