Security Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, secured, courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service at all times, following Hotel Standards of Performance.
• Maintain a thorough understanding and knowledge of all hotel related services and products and have the ability to make recommendations to hotel guests.
• Ensure all aspects of key distribution are conducted according to the policies and procedures of the hotel, and report any discrepancies immediately to the direct superior.
• Maintain legible and accurate records of all control centre documents, including the General Security Log, Key Control, Lost and Found, and Visitor Passes.
• Continuously maintain and service all equipment related or assigned to the department as specified in equipment manuals.
• Ensure that all hotel vehicles are properly maintained, controlling car logbooks, distribution of car keys, damages, and kilometers driven per day.
• Remain aware of scheduled functions, group or VIP arrivals, and special events.
• Maintain flexibility with work hours, regardless of time (day or night), to personally facilitate security arrangements of cases requiring special treatment and handling.
• Project a positive and motivated attitude at all times and exercise self-control.
• Undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties assigned by direct superiors.
• Report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found, assuring follow-up with guests.
• Respond to changes in the Security Department function as dictated by the hotel.
• Actively identify activities that may affect the operation of the hotel (such as seasonal events, current community crime trends, political activism, etc.) and share concerns with superiors.
• Handle all tasks with diplomacy, tact, appropriate discretion, and efficiency.
• Restrict access to crime or natural disaster scenes in order to preserve evidence while awaiting the arrival of authorities.
• Assist, in the absence of direct superiors, in the intervention of all guest room safes and maintain a logbook where all occurrences are recorded.
• Be fully involved in the fire safety protection program.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Security Manager and Supervisor.
