Role Description
The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Nairobi County, Kenya. This role is responsible for driving sales growth across existing and new franchise outlets, including setting and monitoring sales targets, tracking performance, and implementing strategies to increase revenue and market penetration. The Sales Manager will lead and coach a sales team, provide regular field support, and ensure strong relationships with franchise partners and key stakeholders.
Daily responsibilities include analyzing sales data, preparing reports, coordinating with supply chain and operations teams, and supporting the rollout of new products or promotions. The role also involves conducting market research, identifying new opportunities in rural and peri-urban areas, and ensuring that sales activities align with Mwingi’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and motivate a sales team to achieve ambitious targets.
Provide regular field support and maintain strong relationships with franchise partners, key stakeholders, and community partners.
Set and monitor sales targets, track performance, and implement strategies to increase revenue and market penetration.
Analyze sales data and prepare regular reports on performance metrics.
Coordinate closely with supply chain and operations teams.
Conduct market research to identify new sales opportunities in rural and peri-urban areas.
Support the rollout of new products or promotional campaigns.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field; relevant professional certifications are a plus.
Proven experience in sales management, preferably in FMCG, retail, or franchise-based business environments.
Strong skills in sales planning, forecasting, and performance tracking using data and metrics.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with franchisees, partners, and community stakeholders.
Comfort working in rural and peri-urban markets, with a hands-on, field-oriented approach.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English; proficiency in Kiswahili is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with resilience and adaptability in a fast-growing startup environment.
Good understanding of the Kenyan retail landscape and base-of-the-pyramid markets is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel frequently within Kenya to support franchise outlets and sales activities.
