This RTU Engineer role is crucial for executing and maintaining complex infrastructure within substation projects. The focus is on the configuration, installation, testing, and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and associated Substation Automation Systems (SAS).
Responsibilities
- Modify and update existing Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) database files across various substations to ensure data accuracy and system compatibility.
- Configure existing RTUs and new gateways to establish simultaneous communication links with both the new and existing control centers, ensuring network redundancy and reliability.
- Perform comprehensive signal configuration and mapping within RTUs to ensure accurate data acquisition.
- Execute the installation and commissioning of new RTUs and Substation Automation Systems (SAS), ensuring adherence to technical standards.
- Conduct rigorous point-to-point testing between substations and the control center to validate signal integrity and telemetry.
- Manage SCADA system configuration and testing to maintain optimal system performance and visibility.
- Oversee the implementation and testing of Protection and Control systems within substations to ensure grid stability and safety.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering.
- Possess between 5 to 10 years of professional experience, specifically in substation projects.
- Demonstrate technical competency in handling RTU upgradation tasks for various manufacturers, including ABB, Siemens, GE, and Schneider.
- Maintain proficiency in the English language (reading and writing) with the ability to manage professional email communications effectively.
- Have prior experience working within KETRACO or KPLC substations.
- Demonstrate the ability to supervise and coordinate subcontractors engaged for project works.
