Research Midwives - 2 Posts

The role of Research Midwife at the University of Nairobi is a contract, full-time position dedicated to supporting clinical research activities. The position requires two individuals to manage participant enrollment, ensure data integrity, and adhere strictly to research protocols, primarily operating within a busy maternity unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Screen and enroll eligible participants in the study by ensuring proper administration of consent procedures.
• Administer screening and enrollment questionnaires to the participants.
• Maintain a register of all randomized participants.
• Prepare and maintain a good filing system (both the study participants and source verification documents) for all enrolled participants.
• Prepare for scheduled external audit and monitoring visits.
• Ensure and maintain records of IMP (Investigational Medicinal Product) temperature logs and monthly calibration of all study equipment.
• Ensure data are collected accurately and resolve any discrepancies with the data team.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the study coordinator.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following specifications:

• Professional Qualification: Kenya Registered Nurse Midwife or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (holding a BA/BSc/HND qualification).
• Registration: Valid registration with the relevant professional body.
• Experience: Two (2) years of continuous clinical experience post qualification, specifically within a busy maternity unit.
• Added Advantage: Training and experience in research and IT will be an added advantage.
