Research Intern

About the Role

KEMRI is seeking a dynamic and goal-oriented Research Intern to support its biomedical research projects. This role offers hands-on clinical and laboratory experience, including data entry, sample archiving, participant recruitment, pathogen identification, and genome sequencing.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Entry: Input research and laboratory data into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
• Sample Management: Handle sample reception, processing, and systematic archiving.
• Participant Management: Recruit and enroll study participants, and administer informed consent forms, questionnaires, and case report forms.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of all study and laboratory activities, and generate comprehensive reports and summaries.
• Laboratory Work: Perform laboratory testing for pathogen identification and utilize advanced genome sequencing technologies.
• Analysis: Carry out basic data analysis as required.
• Quality Management: Maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) within the laboratory environment.

Vacancy Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in any Biomedical Sciences from a recognized Institution (Mandatory).
• Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, in English and Swahili (Mandatory).
