Job Description
The Kenya Society for Protection and care of Animals (KSPCA) is looking for a dedicated and thoughtful Rehoming Officer to help our rescued animals find safe, loving, and suitable forever homes. In this role, you will play a key part in the adoption journey—supporting potential adopters, assessing suitability, and ensuring that every match is made with the animal's long-term well-being in mind. Based in Nairobi, this is a full-time, fixed-term contract role.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with members of the public daily, guiding them through the adoption process.
Ask critical questions and provide honest, practical advice to potential adopters.
Work closely with animal care and veterinary teams to understand each animal's needs, personality, and history.
Facilitate matches between animals and families, prioritizing the animal's welfare.
Conduct follow-ups on adoptions to ensure animals continue to thrive in their new homes.
Manage multiple cases and public interactions simultaneously while maintaining high organizational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Attributes: Empathetic, confident, and able to balance compassion with sound judgment.
Decision-Making: Comfortable making difficult decisions while always putting the animal's interests first.
Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
Experience: Previous experience in animal welfare, customer service, or community engagement is considered an added advantage.
Values: A genuine love for animals, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are essential. Candidates must share KSPCA's values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for both people and animals.
