The Aga Khan Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate PYP Teacher of Kiswahili to join its Junior School team in Mombasa. The teacher will plan curriculum collaboratively to reflect the standards and practices of the Academy and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), while delivering inquiry-based, differentiated instruction to students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan curriculum documents in a collaborative manner to reflect the standards and practices of the Academy and the PYP.
Engage in effective teaching practice that embraces inquiry teaching and learning methods and differentiate activities to meet the needs of all students.
Authentically assess, record, and track the progress of all students. Communicate this information sensitively, effectively, and honestly with parents and guardians to inform teaching practice.
Communicate necessary programme information to all stakeholders.
Resource programme needs effectively and ensure careful maintenance of existing inventory.
Actively participate in the life of the Junior School and the Academy as a whole, in and out of normal school hours.
Monitor all students' behavior at all times to ensure the core values, as expressed in the student handbook and discipline policy, are adhered to throughout the school.
Actively participate in the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the Academy's professional learning community.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc/HND) or BEd/MEd.
Must have a TSC Certificate or an internationally recognized teaching qualification.
At least 3 years of teaching experience as a PYP teacher.
Knowledge of child development theories and best practices.
Highly collaborative, creative, adaptable, empathetic, reflective, and possess strong communication skills.
