Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is seeking a qualified Lecturer in Applied Linguistics (REF: DeKUT/IGS/1/2026). The successful candidate will engage in university-level teaching, research exploring how languages interact with real-world issues, postgraduate supervision, and programme development.
Requirements & Qualifications
PhD in Applied Linguistics from a recognized University (research focused, exploring how languages interact with real-world issues).
Minimum of 24 publication points of which 16 should be from refereed journal papers.
Registered with the relevant professional body where applicable.
Additional Requirements
Demonstrate teaching experience at university level in Applied Linguistics or language-related courses.
Evidence of research activity or potential (publications, conference presentations, or ongoing projects).
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse academic environment.
Expertise in one or more of the following: second language acquisition, language assessment/testing, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, bilingualism/multilingualism, English for Academic Purposes.
Experience in e-learning platforms, blended learning, and innovative teaching methods including AI.
Experience supervising postgraduate students and contributing to programme development.
Background in Language Education and Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
Understanding of Sociolinguistics (how language interacts with community needs).
