Role Overview\n\nThe United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is looking for a Programme Support Intern to join their team in Nairobi. UNON provides administrative and support services to various UN entities in Kenya, including UNEP and UN-Habitat. This internship focuses on providing high-quality creative and administrative support, specifically in the areas of communications, graphics, and visual design to enhance the organization's outreach and operational efficiency.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\n#### Administrative Support\n- Assist in data collection and compilation using Excel for reporting assignments.\n- Provide logistical support for the organization of events and meetings, including drafting minutes and summary reports.\n- Support unit efforts in office and service enhancements.\n- Maintain accurate filing and organization of documents in unit repositories.\n- Assist with the maintenance of communication trees (Warden system) and updates to the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) documentation.\n\n#### Graphics, Visual Design, and Communications\n- Collaborate with Service Sections to design impactful graphic content that aligns with UN branding guidelines.\n- Create various digital and print materials, such as brochures, infographics, presentations, videos, and formal reports.\n- Propose innovative design ideas that reflect the organization’s image and values.\n\n#### Project Management\n- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.\n- Work closely with team members to understand and execute project requirements.\n\n#### Data Analysis and Documentation\n- Assist in analyzing data for reporting purposes.\n- Keep detailed records of design projects, including progress and outcome reports.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n\n#### Educational Background\nApplicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:\n- Be enrolled in a graduate school program (Master's, PhD, or equivalent).\n- Be in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree program.\n- Have recently graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree.\n- Preferred areas of study include Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Digital Media, or Multimedia Design.\n\n#### Skills and Competencies\n- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Canva, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is required. Experience with videography software is also expected.\n- Software: Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is mandatory.\n- Soft Skills: Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and a strong commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.\n- Experience: While professional work experience is not required for UN internships, experience gained through coursework, academic projects, or specific training in design and communications is highly desirable.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested candidates should submit their application through the official UN careers portal.
