Role Overview
This is a hands-on internship role at Eword Publishers, where you will be responsible for creating the visual materials that represent authors and their books to the world. Your work will span book cover design, marketing and promotional graphics, social media visuals, and internal brand materials. You will collaborate closely with the editorial and production teams to ensure that every design reflects the quality, professionalism, and character of the Eword brand.
Key Responsibilities
Book Cover Design: Conceptualize and design book covers for clients, working from briefs provided by the editorial team and incorporating author feedback through the revision process.
Marketing and Promotional Graphics: Design visual materials for marketing campaigns and on-brand graphics for social media platforms, including post designs, story templates, and promotional announcements.
Internal Design Support: Assist with the design of internal documents, presentations, and templates as required by the team.
Revision Management: Manage client and internal feedback professionally, implementing revisions accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining version control of design files.
Who We Are Looking For
A creative individual with a strong visual sense and the ability to translate a brief into a compelling, professional design.
Someone with a solid understanding of design principles, including typography, colour theory, composition, and hierarchy.

Educational Background
Candidates should possess a Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor's degree from a reputable Kenyan institution in one of the following fields:
Graphic Design
Visual Communication
Fine Art & Design
Information Technology (Design/Multimedia track)
Digital Media Design, Illustration, or Multimedia Arts
Print Production
Note: Candidates with qualifications in other fields will be considered if they present a strong portfolio demonstrating genuine design ability.
Core Skills and Competencies
Adobe Creative Suite: Essential working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign is an advantage.
Canva: Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency for rapid design tasks.
Typography and Layout: Strong understanding of typographic principles and effective application in layout.
Color Theory: Ability to work with colour purposefully for digital (RGB) and print (CMYK) outputs.
Print Production: Understanding of print-ready file requirements, including resolution, bleed, and safe zones.
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot alignment issues and typographic errors.
Time Management: Capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Experience Requirements
While this is an internship, the following experiences are highly advantageous:
A strong portfolio of design work (student, personal, or freelance).
Experience designing for print (posters, flyers, brochures, or book covers).
Social media content creation or digital marketing design work.
Previous internships at a design agency, media company, or publishing house.
Personal Attributes
