Job Description
Johanniter International (JOIN) is a partnership of 16 national charity organisations founded by the Order of St John in Europe and the Middle East, and the 4 Orders of St John in Europe. Member organisations carry out a broad range of activities aimed at preventing and responding to emergencies.
Role Overview
The Programme Manager is responsible for coordinating with implementing partners in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Johanniter projects in Somalia and Ethiopia. This includes ensuring activity and training plans are up to date, project objectives are met, and implementation remains responsive to communities and aligned with global and regional strategies.

Project Management
Coordinate with implementing partners in Somalia and Ethiopia for project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Ensure compliance with Johanniter and donor requirements for all projects.
Effectively streamline cross-cutting thematic areas such as gender, climate change, and inclusion into project implementation.
Provide guidance to partners in sectors like nutrition, health, WASH, and livelihoods.
Ensure timely reporting (narrative and financial) by partners and provide constructive feedback.
Professional Qualification and Experience
Essential:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Livelihoods, Food Security, Emergency Response and Preparedness, Public Health).
At least 6 years’ experience in programme management within a humanitarian context.
Demonstrable understanding of the context and humanitarian needs of Somalia and North Eastern Kenya.
Experience working in insecure contexts and ability to undertake security risk analysis.
Experience in working with and conducting capacity strengthening of partners.
Experience in networking and building relationships with authorities, UN Agencies, INGOs, and local stakeholders.
Desirable:
Experience working in Ethiopia is an added advantage.
