The Program Lead for Learners & Vaccines is responsible for leading and coordinating vaccination programmes for school-going children and hospital employees. This role involves overseeing learner participation in vaccination services to ensure safe, ethical, and compliant immunization delivery in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, occupational health standards, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and oversee vaccination programmes for school-going children within the hospital and approved outreach sites.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with schools, parents/guardians, and public health teams to coordinate vaccination schedules and consent.
Clinical Standards: Ensure vaccinations are administered in a child-friendly, age-appropriate, and safe manner.
Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor vaccine coverage, utilization, wastage, and Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI). Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and follow-up of vaccination activities.
Employee Health: Coordinate and oversee employee vaccination programmes in collaboration with HR and Occupational Health, ensuring compliance with recommended staff immunizations in line with MOH guidelines.
Staff Support: Support pre-employment, routine, and outbreak-related staff vaccination initiatives and maintain confidential employee vaccination records.
Safeguarding & Ethics: Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding policies during all school-based vaccination activities and confirm informed consent is obtained. Ensure privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety during vaccine administration.
Reporting & Compliance: Report and manage vaccination-related incidents, AEFIs, or safeguarding concerns. Prepare compliance, performance, and regulatory reports. Support audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements.
Collaboration: Liaise with MOH, County Health teams, schools, and internal departments on immunization initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare-related field.
A valid Nursing Council of Kenya license.
Updated BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification will be an added advantage.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a hospital setting.
Experience in hospital-related chronic care programmes will be an added advantage.
