About the Role
KCA University (KCAU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for various positions within the Department of Film Technology. Available ranks include Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. The university aims to foster a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation. The successful candidates will be responsible for high-quality instruction, research leadership, and institutional development.
General Responsibilities
- Teaching and Facilitation: Deliver lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Curriculum Development: Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of high-quality curricula.
- Research and Funding: Lead research teams, conduct original research, and actively seek research grants and collaborations.
- Student Supervision: Supervise and guide undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects and theses.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in program reviews, academic audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior faculty and early-career researchers, and support staff development.
- Institutional Service: Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate; contribute to policy formulation and decision-making.
- Assessment: Develop, administer, and mark examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate student records (attendance, progress, achievement) and ensure marks are entered into the management system promptly.
- Partnerships: Foster consultancy, outreach initiatives, and partnerships that enhance the university’s visibility.
Requirements and Qualifications by Rank
Professor
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Film Technology or a relevant field from an accredited university.
- Experience: At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at a university as an Associate Professor.
- Research: Minimum of 6 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 2 PhD students to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research or development funds as at least a Co-PI in two projects.
- Professional Standing: Registered member in good standing with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
Associate Professor
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Film Technology or a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Research: Minimum of 5 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 1 PhD student to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research or development funds in at least two projects.
Senior Lecturer
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Film Technology or a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR 6 years of research/industry experience.
- Research: Minimum of 4 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least 3 Master’s students to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research or development funds in at least one project.
Lecturer
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Film Technology or a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, or in research, or in industry.
- Research: Minimum of 2 publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
